Thrilling: Globe of Death motorcyclists perform stunts at Zippos Circus

Give the kids a great this summer and support Britain’s best-loved circus. Zippos Circus is back on the road today, following a break due to COVID-19. The Big Top tour ‘Rebound!’, starring a diverse cast of thrilling artists from around the globe, kicks off in Southsea where the show will be on The Common until August 9.

It then moves on to Hove Park in Brighton and then London’s Blackheath, so check out www.zippos.co.uk

The show will be presented by Zippos’ first female Ringmistress – Britain’s own Tracy Jones while veteran ringmaster Norman Barrett, 84, takes a break for this season. Tracy will present a fast-moving spectacle with astonishing acrobats and aerialists, comics and daredevil motorcyclists.

Tracy will appear alongside co-star Brazilian showman Paulo Dos Santos, who is a multi-talented comic, acrobat and martial artist – and stands at just over a metre tall.

Returning by popular demand will be the famous Globe of Death with its team of motorcyclists performing high velocity stunts. Also, ‘elastic’ tumblers from Kenya, comic antics from French funny man Emilion;,nail-biting knife-throwing from the Czech Republic, foot juggling from France, hand-balancing from the Garcia family featuring their talented teenage sons and high-adrenaline skills via an astonishing Wheel of Death and an upside down ‘skywalk’ act. And much more.

The show complies with all COVID-19 health and safety measures including social distancing seating within household/party ‘bubbles’ in the Big Top, enhanced ventilation, PPE for staff, deep cleaning and random non-invasive temperature checks for selected visitors. The wearing of face coverings is voluntary as the audience will all be facing in the same direction.

Martin Burton,  Zippos Circus founder, said: “I can’t tell you how pleased we are to be back on the road again. We have worked tirelessly with the government and public health authorities to get the show back on tour in line with official regulations and guidance and are now confident that we can do so in a COVID-secure manner.

“The outdoor nature of the circus and well ventilated Big Top plus socially distanced seating and a range of new hygiene and safety measures will all help ensure that Zippos Circus will be a safe place for both our performers and families to enjoy and we look forward to welcoming everybody to our new show.”
