Gadget choice determines where you go on holiday

Gadget choice

More and more holidays are being booked via mobile devices but what does the gadget you carry say about where you go on holiday?

According to research by lowcostholidays, Apple users are more likely to search for long-haul destinations whilst Android users are looking for sunshine holidays closer to home with Tenerife leading the list of their most popular destinations.

In the last month, more than a quarter of total site visitors accessed the lowcostholidays website via Apple devices with New York and Dubai topping their destination searches, with Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Las Vegas not far behind.

The Amazon Kindle Fire is the top Android device used to access the lowcostholidays website closely followed by the Google Nexus and their users are searching more traditional holiday destinations like Spain and Ibiza than their more adventurous Apple counterparts.

When it comes to making a decision, Apple users make their minds up quicker than those on Android and on average spend £100 more per booking as they are often travelling further than Android users.

Searches for City breaks from both devices are high with a trip to see Mickey Mouse and his friends at Disneyland Paris a top choice for both Apple and Android users who are clearly all ‘kids at heart’.

Tim Buckman, Managing Director at lowcostholidays said: “Like many online business’, searches and bookings from mobile devices are becoming more and more key for us.  Our site are fully optimised for mobile customers looking to browse or buy their next holiday whilst on the go or from the comfort of their home.  No matter what device customers are using, a holiday really can be booked with a few simple clicks or taps.”
